如果你需要了解某個linux 服務或功能,但希望在google上找著的不是片段的文件可加上:

HOWTO
MANUAL
INFO

這些巷內話,因為這些字眼是The Linux Document Project 對其所寫出的文件的名稱,因此透過這幾個字眼找到的,通常都是 較權威 且有系統的文件.

/usr/share/doc -->HOWTO
/usr/share/man  -->manual
/usr/share/info -->info

1. whatis keywords 找出主題名稱與keywords完全相符的manpages
2. apropos keywords 找出主題名稱與keywords部份相符的manpages


apropos keywords = man -k keywords (小徒註加上-k可以搜尋片段,對印象模糊的指令可用) 例: $man -k ftp 等於 $apropos ftp  找 ftp 的相關指令

可別跟 which 及whereis 弄混:

*檔案系統下定位檔案的方法

 --which command
顯示command的完整路徑位置名稱

 --whereis files
尋找特定名稱的可執行檔,原始碼檔,以及manpage的檔案路徑

 --find paths expression
從遞迴地從paths開始找

 --locate patterns 搜尋在市前所建立的檔案索引值,locate的功能與find同為搜尋檔案,但速度較快

 --slocate 是locate的安全加強版,在linux系統上,locate是slocate的軟連結

 --updatedb更新或建立位於/var/lib/slocate/slocate.db的資料庫

6.rpm -qpid kxicq-0.3.1-1.i386.rpm
7.rpm -qfid /usr/bin/tixwish4.1.8.0

只要在rpm 後面加上q就是query查詢的意思, 加上i就是給我相關資訊(information),加上d就是要看(document)相關文件在哪囉.

如果給的命令選項是f (file) 就要加　檔案的引數　
rpm -qfid /usr/bin/tixwish4.1.8.0 <--此為套件安裝後有作用的某一程式執行檔案


如果給的命令選項是p (package) 就要加　xxx.rpm 套件的引數argument　
rpm -qpid kxicq-0.3.1-1.i386.rpm　<--此為套件名稱
